No wins, but 2009 step in right direction for Newman

From nascar.com:

And yet, the defining image of Newman's 2009 season is of his car upside down after a harrowing accident Nov. 1 at Talladega. With five laps remaining and running 190 mph with the lead pack, his car was turned and went airborne. It came down on Kevin Harvick's hood and skidded on its roof. Rescue crews had to flip the car over with a wrecker, and then cut Newman out of the vehicle. The next week, he met with NASCAR officials over how to potentially make racing safer at the 2.66-mile venue.

My old Kentucky home

From www.pheedcontent.com:

NASCAR was gracious enough to move both a truck and Nationwide race there. So the track was off and running. But let's be clear here: There was never any guarantee of a Cup race being awarded to Kentucky. In fact, talk like that was discouraged. Sure, there was the possibility for associating with another track owner and possible realignment of dates might bring a race there. So that was encouraging but unfortunately never materialized.

Vote: Your take on Danica-GoDaddy.com marriage?

From nbcsports.newsvine.com:

Some valid comments are being made about the commercialization in NASCAR, it's getting to be too much. We see enough product exposure all through the race with sponsors logos prominently displayed everywhere.

...

Danica will no doubt bring some fans to the sport, but I, for one, am getting tired of the constant product mention during post race interviews. I'm actually getting tired of the commercialization in all sports, (college athletes being made to wear the Nike logo w/o getting paid??) and when it gets to be too much, I'll just stop watching!

From www.cbssports.com:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A federal appeals court on Friday rejected claims by the former owners of a Kentucky race track that NASCAR and International Speedway Corp. violated federal antitrust laws by keeping it off the premier racing circuit.

The decision by a three-judge panel from the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ends, for now, the ownership group's legal efforts to force NASCAR to bring a Sprint Cup race to the track in Sparta, in northern Kentucky.

Baby you can drive my car

From www.pheedcontent.com:

You know, nothing ever happens fast enough to suit me. When I see something that I believe will help racing, well I want to make the changes now, not a year from now. NASCAR moves at a different pace because obviously they have to take into consideration everybody, not just a few.

...

I personally think the new car is going to be a big hit and a big success. So why isn't this new car going to the Cup side of things? They are the big show. Why are they being forced to continue to struggle with this car we have now? To me, that's not right. I don't want to wait for this newer, better car to make its appearance in 2011. I want to see it now.
